SMART Municipal and Community Credit Funds

Council authorized Mayor Dean to execute a regular, annual contract between the City and SMART for fiscal year 2026. The previous year’s contract was provided to us by SMART in April, so this item came up just a few months ago for fiscal year 2025. However, the contract approved at this meeting is for July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026. These funds from SMART help offset the costs of our senior transportation program, which consists of door-to-door transportation service for retired or semi-retired residents over the age of 50 to assist them in getting to appointments, stores, and other helpful locations. All vehicles include wheelchair lifts, and residents interested in utilizing the service can call the Parks and Recreation Department at 248-658-3470 between 9 AM and noon from Monday to Friday to request a ride. This program is very valuable to our residents and has helped 870 total passengers this past quarter.

Council Rules and Order of Procedures Update

Due to the Board & Commission updates that were accepted by Council at its June 16 meeting, the Council Rules and Order of Procedures required a resolution to align with those changes. City Council unanimously approved these updates.
